Last night’s game was one for the ages… the desperation of winning that pivitol third game, on the road, with the altitude issue and the refs and the crowd and everything… Nobody likes Kobe outside of LA… It’s all great drama… I used to get ticked off at sports – college football, lakers, dodgers… now it’s not so bad due to a life changing moment I had… so last night was really enjoyable… not sure who was going to win, but knowing it was the game of the series so far…. I’m not a Kobe fan, but am a Laker fan and like to see them win. Gail Goodrich is my favorite of all time. I remember seeing Jerry West at the Forum restaurant one day when my Dad took me to lunch for a treat… He walked right by me… and I was at the first Bird Magic game at the Forum… that was fun, though I didn’t know how special it would be…. Lakers are great. Celtics suck. Denver…. who cares….

I’m way pumped that my new friend, Shawn, is in town! Shawn is not only a cool guy, and a sweet drummer and an intellectually-minded young man, but he’s my new friend. Jennifer and I took him out tonight to Cafe Rio, which is one of our favorite Mexican food joints in SLC. The older I get, the more hope I have for the future because of young, 20-something individuals who are sold out to Jesus, to representing Jesus in all settings, in hungering to ‘be’ Jesus to this world. I secretly hope Shawn will one day come see us… for a very long time…. What sealed the deal for us is Shawn’s current employer – starts with an ‘S’ and ends with ‘tarbucks.’ He secured a free pound of Kenyan whole bean for the week, which was nice. Maybe if God can put together a coffeehouse/prayer room/boiler room here in SLV, maybe just maybe my new friend Shawn can come help be part of it.???
After 30 day of just about constant friends and family in our home, things have settled down. I still can’t sleep good, wake up early and can’t go back to sleep, hard to remember things and last names of people I know, stressed out at times over getting things done at the church in prep for Sunday, looking forward to prayer walking on every campus more thoroughly… etc… I’m tired, exhausted and ready to go. I just need a haircut.
